PRINCE GEORGE – In 100 days, the 2015 Canada Winter Games begins in Prince George.

The 2015 Canada Winter Games will be the largest multi-sport and cultural event to ever be held in Prince George and northern British Columbia.

“This is a significant milestone that reminds us how soon the 2015 Canada Games will begin. In just 100 days, we’ll be welcoming the Canada Winter Games to Prince George,” Prince George-Valemount MLA Shirley Bond said. “As a lifelong resident of Prince George, I couldn’t be more proud that we will be hosting some of our country’s best athletes right here at home.”

To celebrate 100 days out, the 2015 Canada Winter Games is hosting a free community celebration and launching the first leg of the Illuminate the North 2015 Canada Winter Games Torch Relay at the Canada Games Plaza in Prince George from 5 to 9 p.m.

“As we count down to the 2015 Canada Winter Games, the momentum is building,” Prince George-Mackenzie MLA Mike Morris said. “The Games will give us the opportunity to showcase Prince George’s hospitality and provide a fantastic experience for some of Canada’s most promising athletes.”
