PRINCE GEORGE – Prince George visitors will be greeted by the newly unveiled 2015 Canada Winter Games mural, the “Spirit of the Games,” when they arrive at the Prince George airport.

The mural was designed by artist Greg Gislason, who worked with Lheidli T’enneh representatives, Prince George historians and local experts. It is located on the outside arrival walls of the Prince George airport and features landmarks unique to Prince George, encouraging visitors to explore the city.

“We want everyone who visits Prince George for the 2015 Canada Winter Games to experience our warm Northern hospitality and history from the moment they arrive,” Prince George-Valemount MLA Shirley Bond said. “Congratulations to Greg for the beautiful mural he has created. It will undoubtedly create a memorable first impression for our visitors and a sense of pride in our residents.”

“This is the first time in history the Canada Games have been hosted jointly by an organizing committee and First Nation,” Prince George-Mackenzie MLA Mike Morris said. “This mural is a great welcome to B.C.’s North and Greg has captured the spirit of Prince George, including the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation, beautifully.”
