MLAs present Small Business Month proclamations

PRINCE GEORGE – On Friday, Prince George MLAs Shirley Bond and Mike Morris presented Small Business Month proclamations to the Prince George Chamber of Commerce and the Northern Hardware.

The Prince George Chamber of Commerce provides opportunities for businesses to succeed.

“It takes dedication and hard work to run and maintain a successful small business,” Prince George-Valemount MLA Shirley Bond said. “Small businesses are the economic engine of our province. Thank you to all of the small business owners and entrepreneurs here in Prince George. You all contribute to the vibrancy of our community.”

“Small business are the backbone of our communities,” Prince George-Mackenzie MLA Mike Morris said. “They support families here at home and keep our local economy strong. Our government is committed to building a strong economy that creates jobs for B.C. families, and small business is an important part of that effort.”

Small business makes up 98 per cent of all business organizations and, employs more than one million people in the province. It provides nearly 55 per cent of all private-sector jobs in British Columbia, the highest rate in the country. There were approximately 382,200 small businesses operating in the province in 2013.
